The results are out! Firstly thank you so much to everyone who entered my colouring competition. Doing this for the first time, I had no idea what to expect, and I was completely blown away after receiving 91 entries! I have spent the last few days going through each and every one, and I’ve found it incredibly difficult to pick only 5 winners. Each piece is so special, and I can see a lot of time and passion has gone into them, so please know it was a very tough job judging! I would like to say a big thank you to Rob from Staedtler NZ who kindly donated some amazing Staedtler products for the prize packs. I am a massive fan of Staedtler and exclusively use their 0.05 (and sometimes 0.1) pigment liners to create my own artworks. Another thank you is to the awesome places that I work with (galleries + conservation groups etc) who have generously helped me promote this competition. When I decided to become a full time artist, one of my goals was to promote conservation, and so it brings me joy to see people people of all ages (especially the kids) excited about colouring in a native bird artwork.
Overall, I had so much fun that I’d love to do another at some point in the future, so please let me know in the comments below what bird you’d like to colour next :) - Hannah x
Grand Prize Winner
Charlotte (aged 7)
A round of applause to Charlotte!! Upon opening Charlotte’s entry, I was blown away by the level of skill she has! I love the bright and happy colours she has used and the creativity with all the unique background details. I thought the use of the music sheet, and spectacles was very clever, and I can’t help but smile when I look at her artwork.
